I am currently having a problem with metastock and the downloader.
My problem is when I try to update the data of the stocks it does not update to the original data files.
It goes through the updating process in the downloader and when I check the metastock charts of a particular stock it does not upgrade it.
I have resorted the software and have not had success.
If anyone knows how to fix this please post. Very urgent.
Thanks
Paris

What does your collection report say when you download the data?
To view the collection report, in the downloader click on view last collection report.

yes I have already downloaded it daily from a source.
the problem is when i try to convert it does not update the data files.
does it have to do with the properities of the folders being "Read-Only"?

No it has to do with the conversion ... What format are you converting from? Who are you getting your data from?
is it your first time converting data or did it work before?

I am converting from ASCII text to ASCII text.
From a professinal company.
This isnt the first time, it worked before.
My computer crashed, had to format the harddrive and reload my backups of metastock with all the data. Whilst trying to run the program with all my backed up data it doesn't seem to work and gets stuck on a particular date.

Make sure you are converting from ASCII to MetaStock ...
Make sure that you open the charts from the folder you convert your data to.
When you open the convert screen you have a destination format which should be Metastock and a destination folder. Write down the destination folder, then open Metastock and click on file, new, chart. Select local data on the left go back to your c drive and browse for your folder, then open a chart.

Could there be a problem in the conversion options?
When I try to convert they are all putting "1" in the cross column showing mistakes.

Well the problem can only be 3 things.
1) You are not opening the files you are converting but some other files.
You have just checked that you are opening the files from the right location right?
2) The conversion is not working.
You said the conversion report looked good ... Make sure you did not specify a date range in the conversion window...
3) The files you are converting from are not up to date ...
OPen up one of the ascii files you are converting and check the last date avail ...
sorry running out of ideas ...

hi elektra,
check your x axis properties, if "Retain Scale" is checked and u previously did some simulation test and put it on chart then the x-axis scale on the smart charts will be locked on the last date of simulation. Unckeck the "retain scale" on smart charts and reopen the chart.
...that hapened to me and my first taught was that it`s some problem with the conversion ....so maby that`s ur problem too.

In your source tab, delete the start and end date ( just highlight one of the numbers and press delete), also uncheck use today's date and try running the conversion again.
