Hi,
I'm new to trading and Metastock so I hope I'm not asking a silly question....
If a company has not traded by EOD, Metastock reports price as zero which doesn't make sense to me, wouldn't last close be better?
Am I missing the reason why this occurs and is there a way to change the way Metastock reports them?

As far as I am aware, if the stock didn't trade, i.e the daily VOLUME is zero, the stock will not plot a bar on the chart. There are two settings under Tools>Options>Chart Options where you can select to show weekends and holidays: both of these should be unchecked to hide data gaps.
Have a good read through the MS Users Manual. If you have any more questions, then feel free to ask.
Maybe there is an issue with your data provider?

Yes, this is definitely a data-provider issue. Zero-padded data generally creates problems in charts.
