WTF: "read protect media"?

If media cannot be read then it's a brick and no use to anyone!

So far as I know, MS needs write access to its installed directory/folder as it automatically writes information such as the results of the last exploration, so, you can run MS from a write enabled HD or USB (with restrictions) but not from a CD/DVD or other restricted media (although I have never bothered to try).

MS also writes information to the Windows registry.

MetaStock has several files that must be kept in the folder the program is installed to. Some of those files are update and modified as MetaStock is used. This includes things like your custom formulas, results of system tests and explorations, and adding files to favorites. If you do not have full rights to modify, add, or delete files in the MetaStock program folder, it will not work correctly, if at all.
