Hi, I have been trying to create an exploration using the Relative strength formula. So, far I have been able to create an exploration by writing the following formula in the column A of the Metastock Exploration Editor: ROC(MOV((C/P),13,S),1,%) Under the Exploration Options we can find two options for Exploration Dates: "specific date" or "most recent Date". The Metastock manual says the following about the dates options: Most Recent Date: Click this button if you want to use the most recent date in each security file for the exploration calculations Specific Date Click this button to enter the date on which you want the exploration calculated. The most recent date for each security equalto or prior to the date you enter will be used in the exploration. But I want to run an exploration of stocks using the RS between two specific dates. But I am clueless about how to achieve this. Should I use "Standalone Filters" ? Or there is any other way of doing the same ? Please guide. Trilion

Do you mean between the last date and 13 days prior? If so, just specify the last date.

Hi Jonathan, Say I want to execute the exploration between 01/01/2011 and 31/12/2011. I think the last date can be mentioned by providing the "specific date" as 31/12/2011 in this case. But how to mention the first date (01/01/2011 in this case) from which Metastock should start exploring the stocks ? Thanks, Trilion

There are two different OPTIONS buttons -- one when you edit an Exploration, and another, next to the Explore and Reports buttons.

That 2nd OPTIONS button lets you set the number of periods. So, assuming you're using DAILY periodicity, use 252 records.

Don't know why you're so concerned with the start date, though -- you're only going to get results for the last date, in any Exploration.

Hi, I think the second option mentioned by shall suffice. I was not so concerned about the start date (although I probably sounded so !) - I wanted to set the total period of an exploration in any way. Thanks, Trilion
