This might sound easy, but I didnot figure out how to complete this after having checked the menus of Metastock and Downloader and the threads of this forum. The question is: How do we create a symbol list (i.e. save as a file) of all the securities that are in a local directory?
Thanks very much for any guidance.

I would suggest running an exploration, like "Equis MSU Rank", that does not have a filter. copy the results to a spreadsheet program. Now save the symbol column to a CSV file and rename it to .sym
