What' the deal with the Subscription edition. My understanding, which may be incorrect, is that we receive any upgrades/updates as they are released. This is half the reason that I subcribed rather than purchased the software outright in the first place.
Should I expect to receive the update CD or should I contact sales and request it directly?

hey kim...... it might be possible to upgrade from 8 to 9.1 for free which would give you the folders.....
that aside it is definitely possibly for me to load onto your computer the meta folder 'stocks grouped by sector' from here.... there would be no data of couse, just the the entire folder and sub folders with all the securities.... at that point you would have to download.....
that would have to be cleared by equis first of course, and they might have a good reason to decline.... the fact that its not provided on the equis site now, hints as much.....so we would need to honor their thoughts on the matter.....h

ALso, - this version is at least 2 years old.
Is there a current version to suit MS 9.0 or 9.1?

Cameron, the freeware USGicsGroup & AsxGroup utilities simply help organize your data into their respective GICS data folders - it has little to do with the MetaStock version used.
Unfortunately the GICS data used by the US version is now approx 10~20% out of date, because the good people at Standard & Poor's hold back this most basic information for a king's ransom.
If anyone has a more up to date version of the GICS data (down to the 24 GICS Industry Groups level), I would be happy to update the utility's data.

You will receive 9.1 subscription in a little while, if you want to make sure to receive as soon as it is available you should contcat our sales departement ... Again just to confirm, anyone with a 9.0 subscription version will receive 9.1 shortly.

Unlike the URSC kit, the freeware US/ASX grouping tools don't have any interaction with MetaStock itself. Check out the documentation that comes with these tools for a thorough explanation.

The US GICS database for the freeware USGicsGroup utility & URSC kit has now been updated.
Both include 2nd-level GICS classification for almost 9000 US stocks, current as at 1st Sept 2005.
