The Heikin-Ashi method was described by Mr. Dan Valcu in the February 2004 issue of TASC (page 16). Unfortunately, MetaStock does not have the ability to display the prices in the Heikin-Ashi price style directly, although a workaround is possible.
You must copy the data from a MetaStock data file, and paste it into Excel and convert the data as described in the article written by Mr. Valcu (page 22). Once the haOpen, haHigh, haLow and haClose values are available, you must copy these and the Dates and paste them into a MetaStock data file in The DownLoader. The Date goes into the Date field, the haOpen values go into the Open field, the haHigh values into the High field, and so on. You should use File | New | Security function in The DownLoader to create the file, giving it an appropriate name and symbol, such as for IBM, you might make both the Name and Symbol be “haIBM” (following a conversation with Mr. Valcu). Once this data file is available, opening it in MetaStock, and set the price style to Candlesticks.
If you wish the White candles (Close > Open) colored green and the Black candles (Close < Open) colored red, you can create an Expert that highlights the bars this way, or edit the existing Equis – Candlesticks expert, and turn-on the Highlights that are already defined there.

Hi,
you can download a freeware (ZEN FTrans) from my website:
http://www.zentrader.de/download.html
First you have to copy the two files in a local directory on your PC and start the exe-File. Then you have to select your original source data file(have to be in ASCII/text format for Metastock downloader) and select/type the name of your target data file.
The software can generate two alternative Heikin-Ashi data files (one based on the original method of D.Valcu, the other is a "moving averaged" HA data algorithm...).
Finally you have to convert this target text file with the metastock Downloader and load it also into Metastock.
So you can see original data and HA data e.g. in a splitted Window on one screen etc.
bye,
zentrader
