Connection Status: Host Connection Failed

If I do:

telnet quotes.reutersdatalink.com 7983

There are 20 repetitions of the DOS flashing cursor, then I get the message:

Connecting To quotes.reutersdatalink.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 7983: Connect failed

The message

You can see that step 9 is still London.

Step 10 is France.

All the info in my original post applies to my personal laptop, using my home ISP (Orange, UK).

I tried my personal laptop in a public wireless hotspot at work. I can download prices OK.

Does that mean I can blame my ISP? (I'm not a techie.)

Tracert will never get all the way to our servers but it should get to New Jersey / New York. For some reason, the routing from your home ISP is not making it across the Atlantic. The first step is to check with you ISP to see what they can do to alter their routing table.
