How do you change your username/PW in the MS Community chat?

I actually administer the chat ( I did not come with the idea and I did not program it, but I'm in charge of making sure it works). If you guys have any suggestions to make the chat a little better, I would really appreciate it :D Patrick

Chatters would be nice! As far as I can determine- the shift key trick is undocumented. Ya'll could add that to the help file  BTW, it worked great. Thanks! When uploading a chart, if you hit cancel it will kick you all the way out of the MS Community and make you log back in. That stinks. When looking at a shared chart (which is just a picture) that I like, it would be nice if there was someway to save it into an actual MS file that could be edited. That way you wouldn't have to recreate the indicators.

Pray [-o< ... I don't know... advertise better. I just stumbled upon the feature using the forum's search function. Another cool feature would be to be able to click on users in the 'people list' and get some sort of profile such as interests, etc.

Different colored text for different users would make it easier to track participants.

What about doing away with the internal feature all together and integrating the chat room function into the forums for real time chat in addition to posts? That would boost your participants too, making it more visible. You could make a link that that would take you to the chat room under Help | Equis on the web. :?:

And make your job as administrator easier since you would only have to watch one thing rather than two! :)

I have though of that .... <biting my tongue> I could integrate the chat as a icon under your post, kinda like the AIM buttons and so on .... We could try that ... Let me take a look at that again. Patrick

Alright I could create a link to everyone MSCHAT ID under your profile. Now for it to work, everyone would have to download an application and have it running on your desktop. ( It's exactly like messenger ) It would connect to the current chat server and you can either log in into one of the rooms, just as you would if your were going through metastock. Or you could see who is currently online and just chat with someone. The problem I see with that is that you have to install an extra application and update your forum profile to add your MetaStock Chat login. For example we could use the Exodus app and I would enter under my jabber profile the id patrick@community.equis.com Does that sound like a good solution? Let me know. Patrick

Perhaps... let's see how others weigh in... We could always try it and set a stop loss to get out if it doesn't work out :D

Has anybody experienced this problem ? I Click on the MetaStock Community icon (I have MS9) and nothing happens, no error message, no nothing :( . I thought I may have had a firewall problem, but I can update the Symbol Database from the Tools option. Any ideas of where to look to see what the problem might be would be appreciated.

Hi Wabbit, That seems to be the fix I need, but ..... Wasn't it Malcolm Fraser (sorry non-aussies) who said life wasn't meant to be easy. My machine seems to think that I dont have .Net v1.1.4322 installed. (and so wont register MetaStock.Community.dll). Luckily im in IT so I will work this problem out Thnaks for pointing me to that post. Webby

I would love a robust chat room for MS. When I click the MetaStock Community icon, a dialog box pops up and asks for my nickname, password and server (community.equis.com is filled in there). No matter what I type in, I get a message that says "Server doesn't recognize username and password." I called tech support to find out what my credentials are. Guess what they said. "Oh, don't bother with the MetaStock Community. Just go to the Forum; it's much better." :x I'd use it if someone could tell me how to get my credentials. I wonder how many others have this experience. George

RC- I've never had that problem. In fact, I just tried it out and it will log me on no matter what I enter for nickname or PW. Have you installed the chat fix? If not, get it here and try again: http://forum.equis.com/viewtopic.php?t=261shame.

You can delete your current community info using regedit. Go to HKCU|Software|Equis|Common|Community. Delete the entire key. Exit regedit and restart MS. You'll have a clean slate then.
