Hello everyone,

the system tester of my metastock 19 is much slower than the one of metastock 16.

What could be the cause? Thanks.

Hello,

The System Tester notably has not changed functionally between these versions (some minor UI changes were made to work with the new application theme), so my first thought would be that the data request (i.e. requesting online data) might be going slower for some reason, or the settings have changed (i.e. testing more optimizations, larger date ranges, etc). If that is not the case, it could possibly relate to the ST_Data.MDB file itself which is where the system tests are stored.

Note: You may want to use File > Backup User Files (Ctrl-K) in MetaStock just as an added precaution prior to manipulating any of the MetaStock files.

As a quick test, you could rename your ST_Data.MDB file to ST_Data.OLD (Do not delete this file as it would contain any custom system tests you might have created/installed from 3rd party add-ons.

This file is located in C:\Users\(Windows.Username)\AppData\Local\Innovative Market Analysis\MetaStock\19.0\Formulas

After shutting down MetaStock, rename the above ST_Data file and then restart MetaStock, we will create a "clean" version of the file, which you can then test to see if the speed is improved.

After performing the test, you can shut down MetaStock, delete the newly created ST_Data.MDB, and then rename ST_Data.OLD back to ST_Data.MDB to put your file back in.

If the above steps show improved performance, you can use the Formula Organizer to Export your custom System Tests out of the System Tester. After exporting your systems, we could then rename the ST_Data.MDB file again, restart MetaStock (to get a clean ST_Data.MDB into the system) and then use the Organizer to Import your custom systems back in.

If you would like assistance with this you could contact our support directly via https://www.metastock.com/customer/
