With the addition of new charts in MetaStock version 18, many new features are included. We have a better way to adjust the time zone in a chart. There is a new setting in Chart Options that works better in most cases. Changing this setting in the Trading Sessions tab is declaring the time zone that the trade sessions are defined in. We would not recommend changing it in most cases, because it will use the daylight savings for the time zone that is set and that may cause unintended side effects on how the data is filtered and displayed. Also, it causes custom sessions to be defined so we will no longer get updates from the data provider. The time zone on the chart options page controls the time zone that the chart data is displayed in only and will not have other unintended side effects. To adjust this setting, follow the steps below:

MetaStock v18 --> Current

  1. Open MetaStock.
  2. From the Power Console, select the Charts button.
  3. Open the desired chart.
    • Type in the instrument using the Instrument(s) field at the top.
    • Select instrument using Custom Online Data Lists or Public Online Data Lists.
    • Select local data instrument using Local Data Lists.
  4. Open the Format menu.
  5. Select Chart Window.
  6. From the Chart Options tab, change the Time Zone field to the desired time zone.
  7. Click OK.

If you have already adjusted this setting in the Trading Sessions tab, it should be changed from the Trading Sessions to the Chart options tabs. To fix the setting, follow the steps below:

  6. Select the Trading Sessions tab.
  7. Click the Defaults button at the bottom.
  8. Select Restore defaults for this page.
  9. Select Chart Window.
  10. From the Chart Options tab, change the Time Zone field to the desired time zone.
  11. Click OK.
