I used this simple Mo formula

Mo(C,14)>Ref(Mo(C,14),1) and got a near 100%  N/A

I added this Filter  with no effect

colA=1 AND Mov(V,30,S)*C>=50000

 I thought the simple Mo was correct --if so, why do I get N/A ??

thanks for your advice

Hi,

If you are attempting to compare to a prior bar value, you will want to make sure and use a negative number with the REF function, i.e.:

Code:
Mo(C,14)>Ref(Mo(C,14),-1)

thanks, such a simple but fundamental error

looked at that number of times before I asked  ( redfaced)

in the correct result, a few show

COLES GROUP FPO    Error in column A: Period value out of valid range in Mo() function.

out of valid range?   it's heavily traded

I just ran a quick scan using Mo(C,14)>Ref(Mo(C,14),-1) and got Normal Filter Rejection on symbol COL.AX in the Rejects tab. This was using Load Minimum Records. However, you may want to try Loading X (i.e. 20) records if you are using Load Minimum to see if this helps.

Depending on which version of MetaStock you have changes how the Explorer works to some extent, but you want to make sure you are running from the most recent date. You may also want to open COL.AX as a chart and see how the data looks. Are you using Local data downloaded from a particular source? Based on the chart I looked at you are correct, this stock appears to trade pretty regularly.
