1. Open MetaStock.
2. From the Power Console, select System Test.
3. Select the desired System Test(s) in the System Tests pane (top, left).
4. Type a ticker symbol in the Instrument(s) field or select an instrument, or multiple instruments, from a custom online list or a public online list.  (you can type multiple instruments by separating them with a space) from the Instruments pane (bottom, left). Check the box next to the list name to select an entire list or double-click to open a list and check the boxes next to the desired instruments .
5. Select the desired options from the right pane.
6. Select Start System Test or press Enter. 

MetaStock v12

1. Open MetaStock.
2. From the Power Console, select the System Tester button.
3. From the Select a System Test dialog select the system test to be used.
4.  Select Next
5. From the Select instruments(s)from lists dialog, highlight the list of instruments to be back tested. Instruments within lists can be checked and unchecked.
6. Select Next.
7. Select the System Test Options.
8. Select Start System Test...

MetaStock v11

1. Open MetaStock.
2. From the Tools menu select Enhanced System Tester.
3. Highlight an System Test(s) and select New Simulation.
4. From the Select Securities dialog select Add Securities.
5. From the Add Securities dialog:
6. If working with local data, select the Local Data button browse to the desired folder, highlight the instruments and select Open.
7. If working with online data, select the Datalink button, highlight the instruments and select Open.
8. Select OK.
