Can Metastock intraday data of 1 min format be converted to Metastock intraday data of 5 min format by The Downloader? If so what are the steps involved ?

Hi,
There is no direct way to use the DownLoader to compress MetaStock format into MetaStock format. You would need to open the 1-minute data in MetaStock and compress the chart into a 5-minute chart. You could then right-click on the prices in the chart and choose Copy. You can then Paste this into Excel, etc. to convert this 5-minute data into the MetaStock format. You might also be able to paste the data directly into a blank Datasheet in The DownLoader but this method can be more problematic with the formatting. Thank you for your reply.
I have one question.According to your instructions-- when I am reconverting back from Excel to Metastock -- in the options sub window in The Downloader convert dialogue box - what figure do I enter into the intraday data minute box-- 1 or 5 ?

Hi Dr.Chatterjee,
Once the data is pasted into Excel from your chart it should effectively be stored at the 5-minute level, so that is what you will want to choose in the conversion options when bringing it back into MetaStock - using Excel as the Source format and MetaStock as the Destination format.

Thank you for your reply. But your instructions have to be followed on a stock to stock basis.I have data for about 200 stocks in my data folder.Converting them one by one will take a lot of time.Is there any way I can do the operation collectively--thus speeding up the process?
Regards,
Dr.Chatterjee
