Hello,

When I draw a trendline, it doesnt keep its original angle when I move it

http://imageshack.com/a/img841/9361/x7ae.png

When I create parallel lines and I want to drag them they do not remain parallel!

http://imageshack.com/a/img843/5712/b3ih.png

This is a HUGE problem for me as channels are one of my main charting technique.
Curiously the issue seems inconstant it happens mostly with the Eur/Usd and EUR/CHF pairs intraday data.
To get around that problem I have tried to use "trendline by angle" but when I create a parallel trendlines the problem remains the same so I have to create 2 trendlines and manually enter the angle which is far more tedious.

If someone has a solution....

Thank you for your help

Hello again,

This is happening again with any type of security and restoring Y axis to default does not resolve this issue. I have noticed this problem occurs when displaying large amount of data.

Thank you for your help,
Greg

Hi,

This is not something I can reproduce, but are you able to open a chart with a Clean template (Right-click, Apply Template-->CLEAN.MWT) and reproduce the issue?

When creating a parallel line, you can hold down the Ctrl key and click and drag a line off of the original trendline. Does this act differently for you vs. right-clicking on the trendline and choosing Create Parallel Line?

What is your screen resolution?

Thank you for your answer,

Yes this is happening when I open a chart with a clean template and only when I zoom out to display more data. The issue remains the same when draging with ctrl
I have a full hd screen (1920*1200)

Here is an example of the steps which lead to the issue:

1) I open a FX Eur= chart ( default load record; display 250 periods)
2) I zoom I out to display all loaded data
3) I draw a short trendline (issue more pronounced whith short trendlines) and drag it , the more i displace it the more it changes its angle.

Does this only happen with Trendline by Angle or with any Trendline? If it happens with regular Trendlines, is the actual Slope value changing in the Trendline Properties (or when you mouse over the trendline)?

This does not happen with angle trendlines.
The slope value does change when I move the trendline.

Here is a video of my issue: http://youtu.be/vhx0EQJ2OLU

It definetly sounds like a bug, I have installed MS Pro 13 on another computer,
and I still encounter the issue. Also when I draw an horizontal segment its lenght changes when
I move it.Did you manage to reproduce the issue?

Thank you for your help

Here's my solution to this issue:

Revert back to MetaStock v11, which does not have this bug.

I tested on a widescreen monitor here in the office and could not reproduce the issue. I will try at home as well to see if I can reproduce. Are you able to reproduce it with other symbols (i.e. IBM) or does this only happen with currency pairs?

You may also want to try running windows in "Base Video" mode (Start-->Run-->MSCONFIG, click Boot tab, checkmark "Base Video") and see if the problem persists. Do you use the same video card / video driver in both PC's?

1) The problem persists with the base video mode.
The 2 computers don't have the same graphic card, I will try on a 3rd one to be sure...
Isn't the fact that the trendlines slopes values change when I move them rulling out the hardware issue?

2)The problem does occur with any security IBM included.

3) I have just noticed the issue won't show out when displaying the maximum data loaded as well as when I don't zoom out at all. It is also more appearent when trendlines slopes are steep

Here is another video to possibly help you reproduce the steps leading to the issue:

It is a bit difficult to reproduce but I was able to get the line to change slope (incidentally I was also able to reproduce this in MetaStock 11). I have written this up to be looked into, but I do not know when this will be addressed. I noticed some other unusual behavior such as the line 'sticking' to the shadow of the line causing the mouse cursor to pull away from the line I was dragging. I was also able to reproduce this with a parallel line of the original.

Thank you a lot for looking into this issue.

This should be addressed in priority as this is a bug regarding a basic charting
feature which cannot bear approximation. This issue is really detrimental to the kind of analysis I am using. I also wish you will correct the" horizontal segment lenght problem", as this is critical when making multiple time projections especially because charts become disordered when using several cycle lines periods.

Thank you again
