Hi, I'm brand new to Metastock and was wondering if you can filter stocks by market

cap, in the explorer tool?

Thank you.

No Metastock is purely concerned with technical analysis. It is not able to filter stocks based on fundamentals like market cap. It simply looks at price and volume. What you can do is make custom lists which can be used as a basis for explorations. You would need to get the list of stocks and their symbols within your preferred market cap range from elsewhere (for example the website of the exchange you're interested in). Once you have a symbol list (make sure they are in the correct format), this can be pasted in as a custom list. The actual process might vary depending on the version of MS you are using.

For example, I am on MS12 Pro and I wanted a list of shares in the FTSE All Share index (roughly the 600 largest listed UK companies) which is not included by default. The lists that are included are "London Stock Exchange" which includes everything listed on the exchange (most of which I'm not interested in), and "FTSE 100" which is just the largest 100 companies.

To make the custom list I went into XENITH, and opened up the FTSE All Share index in a quote list, which I then copied to an Excel spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet I then copied just the symbols and pasted them in as a new custom list in MS12. I can now run explorations on this custom list.

XENITH...

Some definitions for Xenith:

1. A highest point or state; culmination - implying it's downhill from here.
e.g.:
"At the zenith of her career as a dancer"

2. The act of tearing worthless literature to small, bloody pieces.
e.g.:
"The Guild of Appalling Poets watched the critiquers xenith their moronic verses to bloody pieces of the miniature variety."

3. Xenith, a really bad, soon to be ex-Site Administrator.
e.g.:
"Xenith simply doesn't know how to administrate."
