I cant figure out how to plot charts of bonds.Having read the manual, i realise that you look up all instruments through the power console but im unable to find any bond.In MS 11 the procedure was pretty different so im stuck.Any ideas ?

Bonds are not part of the Symbol database in MetaStock. However, you can plot them with the correct symbol. Open up Eikon and do the following:

1. Open Eikon (now called XENITH)
2. On the top toolbar, click the "Advanced Search" dropdown
3. Click "Fixed Income"

You should be able to search for the specific bonds here and then find the symbol. Use that symbol in MetaStock to pull up the chart.

Thanks.

Thanks John.
I have a question though.I tried something similar today before reading the post (i might have done what you suggested, cant really remember cause i was trying almost anything, hoping it would work) and i ended up receiving a message saying something like: "You're not entitled to access this data from the vendor".
Is it possible that i followed the procedure you mentioned and for some reason im blocked from accessing bonds?Though i can indeed access bonds from Eikon.

That is a very good point. I forget sometimes that my account is permissioned for everything. Can you give me a couple of examples of the bonds you are looking for?

Those are the ISIN codes. You'll need to use Reuters Instrument Codes (RICs)

XS0615771143 is: GR061577114=
XS0504303164 is: DE050430316=

If you just type the ISIN code of whatever you are looking for into XENITH's search box you'll be able to find the equivalent RIC.
You could search by the bond's name too (i.e., Thomas Cook Group PLC) to find it.

Yes, i gave you the ISIN in order to find the bonds. At first i tried looking them up with the ISIN and metastock couldnt find them. Then i put the RIC and came up with the message "You are not entitled to get this data from the vendor" or something similar.Though i am able to access bond data from Eikon.

Ok. If you are getting the data in Eikon, then you should also get it in MetaStock Pro. They use the exact same account/entitlements. So there is something odd going on here with the bonds. I will let you work with our support experts on resolving this. It will be much more efficient.
A couple of things:
1. Make sure you are using ALL CAPS in MetaStock for these bond RICs. XENITH will accept either.
2. If #1 is not the issue then I'd suggest you go ahead and contact support via one of our channels:
a. Chat (go to metastock.com)
b. Phone 801-265-9998 (ask for David Lakey---if he is available)
c. Email: support@metastock.com

Support is open today until 4:00 PM Eastern. Closed tomorrow. And open the rest of the week.

Merry Christmas..

OK i think i found the problem here.
Like i said, i did try putting the RIC in metastock but i got the message that im not "entitled to receive data from the vendor".I found out though that this doesnt happen with all bonds. It works with most of them but for some bonds i keep getting that message.

For example i cant access this bond from metastock:
RIC: DE056649263=
(The isin code for that bond is XS0566492632)

I also have another question about the bonds i manage to plot on metastock.I need to plot their middle price chart so i do that by right click on chart -> change field -> mid_price -> OK
But i get an error msg : "The periodicity is invalid". Any ideas what the problem is here ?

Sorry for that. Not sure what I did.

I verified that this is indeed a problem for bonds in interday (daily weekly monthly) data. However, those fields can be plotted on any intraday interval (i.e., 5 min).

I have logged this as a bug.

Thanks.
