Hi. What Im doing at the moment is looking back over data with a simple m/a. For eg if my data starts 4/1/2010 to present day, what i do on the x-axis is load data, start 4/1/2010 end 4/6/2010 and the same for display data. When Ive finished I then adjust the load end data to 4/7/2010, in other words a month on, again the same for display data. Is there a way of doing this with a click of a button?. Im adjusting the load data so the the m/a is offset correctly. If I was to have all my data loaded and scrolled through the chart the m/a would not display correctly. Its a more visual way of back testing and learning. Hope this makes sense.

Hi. Just playing around withdisplay data and setting this to points. then manually adjusting load dates.

Hi Rob
I don't see how the amount of data loaded can affect the offset of an Simple MA. A vertical offset will occur if an MA is not scaled to the price chart. A horizontal offset can be deliberately created but what's the relevance to the amount of data loaded?

Hi, the amount of data loaded is to look back at history. Basically im learning the affect of indicators. If I have 10yrs of data and plot a 15ma offset 5wks, as i scroll back in time i wont see that offset. Were as if i load only the first 6 months, then load more data as i go, i get the effect of the ave changing as it would've done. Hope this makes sense. It purely for learning.

Hi Robert I still don't see your point. If an SMA is delayed by 5 weeks on 500 bars of data it's still going to be delayed by 5 weeks on 1000 or 2500 bars of data. Can you post a chart or charts to illustrate your problem? I'm not "getting" it. If you can't post a chart then send me an email with attachements - rlarsen@quik.co.nz. Roy
