I use Metastock 8 and windows 7 and and when I try to upload files prices displayed symbols ~~~~~~
eg
C: \ datatext\ EURO \ ~~~~~

My first suggestion is to upgrade to MetaStock 11. Only MetaStock 10.1 and later is compatible with Windows 7.
You can also try turning off the "User Account Control" setting in windows 7. That Windows option has caused several odd issues in MetaStock.
