Hello, my first post on this forum...

I can't seem to get the "load options" feature to work at all in MS V11.

If I go to open>chart>load options and choose the load periods and display periods, these settings don't propagate into the chart that is opened - the full data periods for the chart load instead.

I want to be able to limit the loading of data to more recent than February 2005 due to the use of an indicator that references an index that only has data beginning Feb 2005. If I use this indicator on a chart with data older than Feb 2005, I get a load error and the indicator does not work.

The load options do not affect any chart that has "retain scale" set. The retain scale option is found by going to Format -> X - Axis. It is a check box to the right of the date settings. If that is checked, remove the check, click OK and then close and save the chart. When you open it again, it will use the load options settings.

Retain scale is automatically set for all charts in a layout. You can not uncheck this option for charts in layouts. you would have to remove the chart from the layout first before you could turn off retain scale.

Sorry for the late acknowledgement - had computer issues with our network...

Thanks for the info, I can see what was happening - I was applying a template at opening, which overides the "retain scale" tickbox - so I have now modified the template to have the correct load settings and this has resolved the date loading issue.
