and then: "Error writing P variable data to report folder". This was the error message I just got while running an exploration under MS 10.1. Any thought?

Hi Gaetano I haven't seen this error before but one possibility is that you had marked a particular plot on the active chart before running the exploration. It's a fact that an exploration runs more slowly when a plot is marked (selected), and this occurs regardless of whether the exploration calls for a P (or INDICATOR) variable or not. This suggests to me that whenever a plot is marked (as it would be for use as a P variable) an exploration will attempt to use the marked plot as a P variable even if the exploration code does not call for such use. This is pure speculation on my part but the error you experienced could relate back to an unintentionally marked plot causing a problem while running an exploration. Roy

In the MetaStock program folder is a sub-folder name "EXPLORE" This folder holds the exploration reports. The message you are getting suggests either a rights issue with you not being able to save or modify the folder or the files in it, OR the folder has become damaged in some fashion.

Please verify you are logged into windows with full administrator rights and that the metastock folder and sub folders are not set to read only.

If you still get the error, delete the EXPLORE folder. you will lose any saved reports from prior explorations, but MetaStock will create a new folder with your next exploration.
