Has anyone come up with a good exploration for channeling stocks? I'm talking about identifying stocks that have completed like 2 top and 2 bottom touches, either in a rising channel or flat channel, etc? Im trying to set up an exploration which specifies the height, time between touches etc. The price channel and envelope functions might help, but they only address what is happening now. Sites like channelingstocks.com etc offer this but MS should be able to duplicate it. Anybody have anything useful? What Im looking at is a phenomenon which looks very profitable: a number of stocks trend in a sideways channel for 45-90 days and then drop down out of the channel 5-10% on very low volume. Then they rise dramatically because the time in channel actually represented long period of institutional buying. AAPL has a couple of the periods in the last 5 years.
