I have a problem with an expert. The highlights is changing at different times when “Refresh data” is used. Loading for example, CH Robinson (5 min) highlights will shift the following times 2011-03-10 16:40 (CET) 2011-03-11 18:45 (CET) 2011-03-14 18:10 (CET) 2011-03-15 15:35 (CET) 2011-03-15 16:55 (CET) 2011-03-16 15:45 (CET) 2011-03-16 17:30 (CET) 2011-03-16 20:20 (CET) By pressing “Refresh data” the higlights change at different times then above . Someone who can explain why? I’m losing confides in Metastock. The expert: Uptrend a:=Cross(RMI(C,20,5),30); b:=Cross(70,RMI(C,20,5)); state:=If(BarsSince(a)

The only way a refresh would cause the highlights to change is if the underlying data changed.

The RMI uses Wells Wilder's smoothing method which is exponential in nature. If the number of bars loaded in the chart changes with the refresh, then the values of the RMI could also shift. Depending on how many bars are in your chart and what the maximum number of intraday bars is set to, the refresh could be adjusting the chart by removing older data.

Also, a refresh will remove any single ticks on a chart caused by late trades. For example, if you are looking at data for 10:30 and the time changes to 10:31. After a few trades have come in a late / out of order tick is received with the time stamp of 10:30. If this tick was more than 15 seconds late, it will be put as a new bar as metastock had already closed the 10:30 bar. A refresh would clean up this sort of data issue in your chart.
