I am trying to add a custom menu item to the Metastock custom toolbar that will launch an application with the periodicity and symbol being passed to the application. I am successful in creating this menu with eqcustui menu.additem(chart-tools,Update,c:\somedir\someapp.exe) When I click on this Menu Item, it opens a web browser inside Metastock with the URL being c:\somedir\someapp.exe which will then brings up a file download message (as per IE when downloading an .exe) and a mswin security message and then launch the application. I also tried to just launch word as you would by using winword as the command. It also opens the browser window with URL http://winword/ and then that it cannot find it. Can someone assist me to get this right so that the application is launched and not the browser. If I add a custom toolbar item inside Metastock not using eqcustui then it will launch the application directly without opening a browser. Any help will be appreciated.
