What is that status of this issue? I signed up this weekend and just spent 30 minutes on with tech support but can't get the downloader to work. I downloaded one symbol, though it was slow. But I can't download multiple symbols. And the behavior is exactly as you describe above. Please advise.

I asked my current data provider - Premium Data (www.premiumdata.net) if they would ever be affected by such an Internet routing/firewall issue and here was their response: "Premium Data has multiple download servers that are geographically diverse - i.e. Australia, West Coast US, East Coast US and Europe. Each server is hosted by independent hosting companies using independent DNS providers, such that any failure of two or more services is highly unlikely. We are also in the processing of adding an additional three Cloud/Content Distribution Network facilities, which provides a additional local edge servers: Asia Pacific: Australia, Singapore, Japan (2), Hong Kong (3); Europe: Netherlands (3), UK (2), Germany (3), France (2), Ireland; USA: Seattle WA (3), Arizona, California (4), Texas (4), New York, Illinois (2), Atlanta, Florida (3), New Jersey (2), Missouri, Virginia (2). As our software operates in a round-robin fashion, this effectively means you will have 46 possible locations worldwide from which you can download our data. A break in the Internet, routing or misconfigured firewall anywhere is highly unlikely to affect your ability to download data. We are actually quite surprised that someone as big as Reuters relies on a single internet service provider/single firewall/single AS/single IP address if those facts are correct."

If referring to the recent ISP change-over at Reuters, that was a pretty rare issue (Outdated Martian Block List). While additional server locations would be nice, the fact is the vast majority of our customers connect and collect data without any issue regardless of their geographic location.

Additionally, Reuters does not distribute their data via Reuters DataLink. Reuters DataLink is a fairly unique product in the Reuters world. The majority of Reuters clients (to my knowledge) are banks and financial institutions that are storing the data via on-site DBU's.

I prefer not to use terms like Equis vs. Reuters vs. Thomson Reuters as ultimately we are one company, but in this respect I think it's worth pointing out the difference. I don't think anyone at Equis was happy with the time it took to get this particular issue resolved, but we have made some improvements to our communication pathways with Reuters (in regards to Reuters DataLink) so that if something like this were to happen again, we would be in a better position to identify the issue.
