Hi all,
I'd like to know where I can find the formulas for the in built candlestick functions?
I've been having a look at the in built candlestick functions. When I plot certain functions, e.g. the PiercingLine() function - I seem to get some strange results. Some formations that look like perfect piercing line formations in a down trend are not found ("0" is plotted) whilst others which do not look like piercing lines and within a trading range are found ("+1" is plotted).
I'd like to know how these functions have been coded.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi erko, Welcome to the forum. I have never had any luck getting this information from the Equis coding team so do not know exactly the candlestick patterns have been implemented in MS, but if you feel like wading through a few thousand lines of codes, you can access an excellent resource through the TA-Lib, visit: http://www.ta-lib.org/

Hi wabbit,
Thanks for the info. Yes TA-Lib does look to be an excellent resource. I will see if I can get a better understanding of how these functions are written.
As for the candlestick functions in metastock - I keep coming across strange results when plotting the these functions on my charts. Makes me very skeptical on these "blackbox" functions. Has anyone else come across results using inbuilt functions that just don't look right?? or is it just me??[:P]
Cheers erko
