im using 100% of equity, equity = $10,000. Position 1 calculates # of shares by dividing $10,000 by market price, in this case I used 100 units as an example where stock price is $100. Position 1 goes long 100 units, then closes them and calculates a profit or loss for that position. Then on position 2 it goes short 200 units. I could understand going short 200 units had position 1 not closed, but since position 1 went +100, then -100....back to zero, i would have thought position 2 would go short 100 units. I'm merely trying to use System Tester to compare apples with apples....

Keep in mind that short positions by default give you leverage due to the margin settings. Within the "More" button of the System Testing Options, set the Short Initial and Short Maintenance to 200 and 101 respectively if you do not want your Short positions buying on margin.
