Hi,

I am a newbie to Metastock, and still learning. I am wondering about a trading diary. Does Metastock have one? Or is it expected that a brokerage would have one? I would find it extremely useful for testing different systems to have an electronic diary I could use.

I have found one online caled Portfolio Manager that I like. I can put in the price bought, short, or long, # shares, and then it will update to the current price and let me know what my value is and profit/loss. I can also put in the sell pricess and quatities and it will keep track of my profits and losses. Plus I can make notes on each trade.

Does Metastock have anything like that?

Thanks for your help.

Misty Rose

Hi mistyrose,

Welcome to the Forum.

No, MS doesn't have an inbuilt trading diary, but if you are even-slightly-adept at using a spreadsheet (like MS Excel) you can easily create one. In order to have the current price of a help commodity available in Excel, you will need to use a DDE link (requires access to a RT data server) or there is a slightly-more-complicated method requiring OLE and many charts, or you can have a custom written function in Excel which can read MS data files (using MetaLib.dll or similar)

Hope this helps.
