Hello,

I would like to customize a MACD indicator to work with volume instead of price.

Could someone please help me or reference a manual's page that would tell me how to do this?

Thanks.

Hi zvior,

In the MetaStock User Manual the formula for MACD is:-

12 period EMA of the closing price - 26 period EMA of the closing price

or expressed as a formula:-

Mov(C,12,E)-Mov(C,26,E)

By substituting the volume (V) for the close will then give you a MACD of the volume.

Cheers,

oz
