When I go through directories looking for a stock in the "Open" window it happens that metastock is extremely slow (10 sec) to display what there is in a directory. It started suddently after a metastock crash and no success to sort out the problem even re-installing metastock! It's likely that something wrong happened in the windows xp registry :-( I fear... Do you have any idea?

We have seen slow response time in the File-->Open dialog in these cases.

I had the zip file of my whole database on the desktop as a backup waiting to go on a DVD... I didn't think to it as a problem but it was! :-O I can add a tip that could be useful to someone having problem to uninstall Metastock if it is not present in the Control Panel\Application Install list, like happened to me you can unistall Metastock by the following DOS command: isuninst -f"c:\programmi\equis\uninst.isu" After having re installed Metastock (before reading Justin's gold tip) it appears in the Control Panel\Application Install list again ... Windows' mystery...who cares? :-) thanks again Bi[censored]>
