The indicators introduced in the article "High Tech Mesa Adaptive Moving Averages," by John Ehlers, are created in MetaStock 7.0 or higher with the use of the MetaStock External Function (MSX) DLL Interface.
Click here to download the formulas. After downloading the exe file double-click it and the formulas will automatically be imported into MetaStock. After the import has finished the two indicators, FAMA and MAMA, will appear in the Indicator QuickList. Note: you must have MetaStock 7 or higher.
Sample source code for the MSX DLL is available in three languages: C++, PowerBASIC, and Delphi Pascal.
Click here to download the sample source code
All of MetaStock's formula tools can be used to create formulas that access the functions contained in the DLL. In the Tools formula editor click the Functions button. In the Function Category select the name of the DLL and all available functions and their associated parameters will be listed.

Hi Is it possible that you're failing to install the EXE as an Administrator in Vista or Windows 7? Some time ago I got this response from Equis Support when requesting help on behalf of clients with a similar problem. This
is a problem with plug-ins as well. Since Windows Vista and now Windows 7, if
they run these programs without selecting run as administrator it will put them
in the windows virtual store. You will see evidence of this when you navigate
to C:\Program Files\Equis\MetaStock, up in the menu you will see
"compatibility files". If you click on this you will see the folder
path change to the virtual store. In limbo so to speak. This is a change they
made in Windows.
The
bottom line here is if they right click on the EXE and select "run as
administrator" they will show up in MetaStock.Roy
