Hi everybody,
i just want to know how the Trailingstop in MS' System Tester works. I don't fully understand the descrition in the Help Section. I want to raise the maximum loss for 10 points, every time 10 points are reached. The initial loss is set to 20 points. The "Profit Risk" option only sets a stop loss under a certain percentage (point) of my profit, f.e. 5 points, which is not what I want. By the way - when decides the System to set a new Trailing Stop? Maybe someone could explain how exactly the (Trailing) Stop System works in the System Tester. Another problem, which is quite similar to this, is that I noticed that some positions were sold with 10 points loss although the max loss was set to 20 points. Would be very nice if someone could help me :-)

hey pcons.... the trailing stops have at times confused me also.... after a few years and thousands of hours now intensely using and intensely studying metastock i can say with complete confidence, roy probably understands system testing and trailing stops better than anyone.....
he is mstt here on the forum ...... roy, henry, wabbitt and jose handle some of the more highly technical issues involving programing...... see advanced coding section.....
and speakin of wabbit, he must have hopped off on another world crusie or somethin.....h

Speaking of system testing :)
My 457 plan at work only allows me 12 trades per year before they start making it a big pain in the [censored]. Therefore, is there a way to optimize a system test to limit the number of trades? It always seems like the most profitable trades trade about 200 times a year. I tried to increase the commission size, etc, to sort of negate the effects of the systems that trade all the time but I haven't been successful, it would be nice to optimize the number of round trip trades somehow. Can anyone help?
