Hello to All -
I'm a new MetaStock customer and have purchased a subscription to MS Pro and QuoteCenter. Have some experience with MS v9 EOD, and am looking to use MS Pro for live feeds and day trading.
Question 1: am getting a error message from the Equis Data Server that indicates the following - "Unusual time change detected in data stream from QuoteCenter. Do you want to continue to receive warnings about this issue?"
Can anyone give me advice on this one?
Question 2: when I go to open a security chart from the QuoteCenter folder, and specifically futures contracts (i.e. 'us@C' for Corn Pit CBOT), and then get the prompt to select the contract month, it will not let me chart a specific month, but will only allow the chart if I check 'continuous'. A friend of mine does not have this same issue, as he can currently chart July 07 Corn Pit; but I can only see it as continuous. Obviously, with July being the front month, the continuous chart will give me the same data (I beleive?). But I can't trade 'continuous' with my broker, only contracts by the month...
Apparently I have a setting activated that is not allowing me to see individual months?
Final, question 3: with Enhanced System Tester - why do I get some trades extending through the overnite hours, when I have selected the trade expiration setting to - 'good for day'? How does the system know when the day session ends? Is it smart enough to know that CBOT day session is over at 1:15 Central Time? Again, either the system is this smart and I am doing something wrong, or I have to throw these trades out of my test results, manually comb through?
Thanks to any and all who can share their wisdom and insight!
Dave

Unusual time change detected can be caused by a few different factors. The basic explanation is that the Data Server has received ticks out of order. This could be a legitimate correction from the data provider.
The incoming data is timestamped according to your system clock. If you are seeing this error frequently, it could also be due to your system clock changing. For example if you have your clock synchronized with an Internet time source, it could shift your system clock backward. Now the system is timestamping data prior to data it had already received and would generate this error. You may want to try not synching your clock with an internet time source, at least while receiving data. You can do this by double clicking on your clock, clicking the Internet Time tab and unchecking this option.
The issue with Futures Contracts is symbol database related. I recommend performing Tools-->Update Symbol Database to resolve this issue. You will need to restart MetaStock after performing this update.
The "Good for Day" option in the System Tester does not refer to your actual trade position. It refers to how long the buy/sell signal is valid for. There are several stages to actually placing a trade. You have the initial signal, then you go through a few other stages where the trade is considered, placed, and executed. These stages can take place over multiple days, but with the "Good for Day" option enabled, the initial signal is only good for a day, so the trade must be executed on the same day as the initial signal or it will be cancelled.
