Hi MetaStock Users:
I want to screen for stocks that generate a signal with the following rules:
1) A signal is valid if H>Mov(c,20,E) For Long and L<Mov(c,20,E) for Shorts.
- Place a 20 d.e.m.a moving average over your chart.
- When presented with a buy arrow that is above the 20 d.e.m.a, place your buy stop order a fraction above that price bar. We are talking about 0.1 above the high for stocks.
Now we only class buy arrows valid IF the price bar’s high is above the 20 d.e.m.a and sell arrows are only valid IF the occur BELOW the 20 d.e.m.a. This will eliminate many of the “false” trading signals.
My Exploration: set up currently
ColA: Fml("s sb")=1 AND Ref(Fml("s sb"),-1)=0
ColB: Fml("s ss")=1 AND Ref(Fml("s ss"),-1)=0
Filter: colA OR colB
I would like to incorporate Rule number 1 and 2 in the exploration scan.
Currently with my current Exploration it generates a large list everyday, would like to narrow it down to a handful.
Any suggestions or advice.

Hasn't this been asked answered already here: http://forum.equis.com/forums/thread/23877.aspxut the way to go about solving the problem is. Simple exploration problems like these should be able to be solved by anyone who has taken the time to read the MS Users Manula and attempted all of the Equis Formula Primer. Look at the built explorations that come with the installation of MS for inspiration and examples of how to solve different problems. I asked about the two formulae "s sa" and "s sb" in the last thread, and still have no idea what they are. Amory spent some of his time looking for them and found them, but I don't have the time to go searching for information the original posters should provide. In one of the many swing trading threads there are formulae for "sa" and "sb" but are these the same? Have these formulae been modified other than just changing the name? (If they are the same I would NOT be using them as trading indicators as they are using hindsight to generate their signals!) wabbit [:D]
