hi, I have recently purchased metastock with asx data. Would anyone be good enough to explain how I can see the charts for oil price, dow jones, SP500 etc indexes. Thanks in advance.mattv

You have to ask you friendly data provider to provide you the information in the first place. If they do provide the data, then it is probably stored in (one of) the data directories in your computer. Again ask your friendly data provider for the default location of the downloaded data, and if you haven't changed this setting then you should be able to see all the data.
If you don't know all the stock/indicie symbols by heart, yuo can get MetaStock to show data components by Name or by Symbol (select, Show by Name) and you will see the 'real' names listed for you; this helps until you can remember the symbols for your favourite instruments.

Metastock help will provide 95% of any information u need. Thats the first step u should take and it will be a time well spent.
