Hi everybody-my first post-do not know if this is the right place for this question...

I run version 9 of Metastock (will upgrade to 10 when i buy Vista) and i can see that in an Ichimoku chart the cloud is not ahead in time as it should be shown

Hi apriapus1,

Welcome to the forum.

In response to your query, in short, you cannot extend any plot beyond the right hand edge of the chart. You couldn't in MS9 and you still cannot in MS10.

@wabbit: Hi, we're now running 11.0, there still does not seem to be a future cloud to the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo indicator. Even free broker's platform have the indicator ploted has it was conceived. Is MS planning a fix for this indicator? Thanks.

Dear Breeze,
In the chart it showed the cloud projected ahead of the current price.
My question is where did they get the data from? If you knew the outcome ahead of the markets then we are all pounding our heads against a wall.

All versions of metastock will never plot ahead of the last bar charted.

Only Line Studies can be plotted ahead of price

@henry1224: The cloud is comprised of 2 indicators, Senkou Span A and B which are basically a 26 and 52 MA plotted 26 periods ahead. The plot ahead of the current price is actually based on current values. Why are they projected? I don't know. I can only suspect that it is in order to avoid a buch of cluter, all on top of price. That answers the question: where the data comes from. The data has no predictive value, contrary to what you seem to imply (the term "future cloud" might mislead you). Senkou Span are indicators, part of a 5 indicator system. Like any other indicator, it is a working tool. The Idea is that presently, the indicator has conceived in MS has the last 26 days of value truncated from the 2 MAs (Senkou Span). The indicator was made to show "in a glance", all the indicators in the system. The cross between the 26MA and 52MA could be valuable information, I'm sure you'll agree. The space between price and those same MAs and their respective direction are also important. My point is simply that anyone that intends to use the system does not find value in the way it has been conceived in MS since 2 out of 5 indicators are basically inoperable. Finally, I think everyone must keep an opened mind. How can we state: "All versions of metastock will never plot ahead of the last bar charted"...??. I'll bet my last dollar that there were people saying the same thing about candlestick charts when they were introduced...
