Repeat CD Verification and Pluggin Registration validation

I am using MS Pro version 9.1. I had installed it a long time ago and nearly one month after installation it had asked for CD verificaion, which was done without any problem.
This Thursday, it asked for CD verification again. I noticed that one pluggin is also asking for Registration validation again. I performed the CD verification again and it is working fine now. However, I am curious why this happened.
Have any other users also experienced such repeat occurances or is there some other problem?

I can't speak for the plug-in (Though it's possibly the same reason), but MetaStock should check once after 90 days from installation. If you install a new version, or something resets the Windows Registry in some way (such as restoring Windows to an earlier point in time) it would cause this CD check to reset.
