Hi!
Pardon the newbie with an obvious question! None of the stocks I download (e.g. IBM) have a different opening price from the closing price prior to November 11th, 1991. All opening prices are equal to closing prices, making candlestick analysis rather hard! I'm pretty sure I checked the "download opening prices" checkbox, because after that date I get all closing prices and opening prices just fine.
Sincerely,
Stuck in the twilight zone

Which data vendor do you use?
The accuracy and extent of the data history is solely based upon the quality of the data your vendor has in its historical databases.
For example, Premium Data (who I represent) has OHLC data on US stocks back to 1985. The day's open is never equal to yesterday's close unless it just happened to trade at that level.
eg. IBM 31 Jan 1985 shows O 34.0625 H 34.21875 L 33.8125 C 34.09375 2 Feb 1985 shows O 33.90625 H 34.15625 L 33.84375 C 33.90625
(note that these are split adjusted prices above).
Cheers, Richard. |
