Dear all, I am new user of Metastock. I am currently using Real-time data. Yet, I need to do an analysis of an overseas stock which does not have real-time data. However, I only have data of this stock in excel format. How can i create a metastock chart using Downloader? Thanks in advance for any helpful reply. Whitehorse

Hi wh- The format that the Downloader is looking for is exactly this: Symbol, periodicity, date, time, open, high, low, close, volume, and open interest. There is more than one way to do this, but one way to convert your Excel file is to open the Downloader and select TOOLS | CONVERT, then follow the prompts. This method will create a new security file that you can open directly in MS. Another way to selectively import data for an existing security is to copy the data from Excel to the clipboard. Open the security to be modified in the Downloader using FILE | OPEN. Then highlight the area(s) that you want the clipboard data to occupy and paste it into place.

I believe that this can only be done manually. If you just want a chart view, you might consider linking the data DDE from Excel or another application.

Dear Administrator, Thank you for your reply. I did not have MS with me now. I will follow and try when I get to office. By the way, one more question: how to update the chart/ I mean...end-of-day, I will update my excel file. So how can I update the MS chart? Thanks again for your attention and your assistance. :D
