The downloader has a convert feature that will download stock info into .txt or .xls,
If one stock has 6000 records it downloads all 6000 records so excel is max'ed out pretty quickly.
What I want is a symbol list of the stocks I am currently downloading, any ideas?
Thanks.

hey john..... one quick way is to create an exploration for just the close..... then explore your folders being downloaded.... next view the results and highlight the top security..... right click, copy and paste that into excell..... do the same for the rejected securities..... that should put everything into excel.......
somewhere i've posted better intructions with other methods..... will add it here if found.......h

Thanks for your reply.
Just figured it out.
Use downloader, use convert, use options, select "ONE" date instead of a range.

Actually, there would have to be a ton of records to max Excel out... not sure what that means though. In one worksheet, you can easily add in excess of 250 static records containing 6,000 entries each. If you need more than that, add more worksheets. Since each worksheet will contain1.5 million entries, you will want to turn off the auto-recover feature while it is open, or you may get a lengthy wait prompt every so often when the auto-recover is running. You can save 6 million cell entries in a 40 mg uncompressed XLS file.
Anyway, sounds like that isn't really what you were wanting...

You are correct but.........
I want to match a file I created (containing stock symbols) with the symbol list I have in metastock to see which ones are missing so i can add to metastock.
So I wanted each list in a separate column so I can match using the excel "match" function. By deleting
the "found records" I create the "need to add list"
My mistake was doing the convert without a specific date so for each MS symbol I had 6000 records which
were dups (unique by date however)- maxing out the 65,536 record column limit in excel.
By seleting one date metastock created a file with one record per symbol, thus creating the lookup table I needed (only 3000 records).
Once again, thanks for all your help.
