I've never really tried to use this feature before, but now I'm thinking what the heck, give it a whirl. Seems like I'm stuck right off the bat though. Is there a way to add to the list of trading applications manually? The manual says this:
Quote:if MetaStock detects that a trading application is already installed, the location of that application is also displayed. If your application is installed, and not being detected, select the application, then click Edit to locate your application on the hard drive. If your application has not been detected, it will not be available in the Accounts drop-list on the Online Trading toolbar.
LOL! The problem is that if the application is not being detected, there is nothing to select. Doh... I don't want to enter a URL, I want to enter a path to the local program.
Is ProFX Trader an Equis product or an Interbank product? When you pull it up from the MS 'Online Trading' toolbar, there is no user's manual available when you push the User's Manual button. That's not good.
Is ProFX Trader 2.0 an old version of MetaTrader? The current version is 4.0, but the link is to v2?! I tried to update my online vendors list, but that didn't change anything... well, it updated COES and Preferred to say <not found>. I don't really know what else to do. I'd like for it to recognize Active Trader Pro and MetaTrader 4, but I don't see a way to manually enter the information. Any help is appreciated.

hey g.... if your prefered platform shows 'not found' you can double click on the 'not found' then browse your machines programs till you see your trading program listed..... clicking ok should put it in the applications list....
some trading platforms have moved to being web based.... so they are not on our local machines any more..... power etrades platforms are web based... so that metastock feature would not work..... which is all well and good for me..... i run multiple etrade platforms and if coupled with meta in real time, it might cause problems.... not sure about that, just a fear of mine..... instead of combining them, every realtime program is running on its own computer......
perhaps those programs you mentioned are web based also.... do you see them in your programs list or is there a icon, such as metastock , that you click on to start them up..... not familiar with'em so i'm just guessing here......
i can use the url route to open power etrade in metasock, but thats just using the browser feature..... its not really opening/loading the program itself......h

Thanks for the feedback. I think all of your points are on target and valid. My platforms are all web-based too. Not sure about that local Interbank stuff... all I can think of is taht the date on the exe is a year old, so the app has been forgotten and is now outdated. Interbank recommends their newest platform anyway which is MetaTrader v4.0. I can get it to startup by modifying the app list as you describe, but that's just a workaround. I can't see how to add new applications here. IMO, this toolbar interface is klunky and needs to be more user friendly. Really, in line with your comments, the most useful way to go is to use the 'Custom Toolbar'. It has the most potential in its present state. IMO, Equis should just remove the 'Online Trading' toolbar altogether.
Thanks again,
G
