in most programs we can move items around by using either the drag and drop or the cut and paste methods.... metastock has a somewhat unique twist on that.... it has to do with indicator defaults and defaults not so per se.... have you ever ploted any of equis provided indicators, stoch for example.... then to get a better take , use the right click copy/paste and overlay the stoch onto the price bars themselves.... if your setting were 5,3 on the first plot, the copied and pasted stoch settings will be 5,3 also.... just as we would expect...... we could have scrolled thru the indicator list and found the stoch indicator buried somewhere among the others and applied it straight out, but using the method above saves a few seconds..... equis provided indicators that have inputs, such as stoch, appear to have default settings.... those defaults per se react differently than the default setting on indicators created by us..... no matter how we move equis indicators around, our chosen settings stand..... they override the equis default settings..... which again, is just as we would expect.... now, if we were to copy/paste a stoch or any indicator created by us, the pasted indicator will always revert to the default settings.... this might not be as we expect..... so expect it.... in the case of a indicator with 6 inputs , odds are the 2 will be very different..... or the difference might be slight but still again just expect it.... in the case of an indicator created by us, only if we drag the indicator out of its window and drop it on the price bars will our chosen settings overide the default settings..... the same line of thinking goes if we group indicators into one, such as with the cedar creek combo, the default indicator would be ploted in a copy/paste scenario.... so if after moving an indicator created by us, something looks different.... suspect the defaults...... h
