then the doctor whops the hayseed up side the head and said, 'well then don't do that'.....
mentioned long ago, if your going to "upgrade" to qc 9.1 from any other version, first go in and change your existing equis folders name.... just right click on the folder and choose rename... rename it equis9 or something...
now install 9.1qc... nothing gets overwritten.... both 9 and 9.1 and their assocated programs will stay on your machine.... thats important, at least for a little while.....
which brings us to a folder meta uses that's outside the equis folder..... the 'metastock data' folder....
when you install qc it creates a folder "metastock data" and places in it the broad market indicators and a sample folder...... qc comes with a historical data cd..... at this point the thought is for you to load that cd which places in historical data with qc's prefix included symbols..... 'ay', as hamlet said, 'there's the rub'......
i did not, until today, ever use that cd.... i kept my existing "metastock data" folder and just added to it the qc broad market indicators..... the qc supplied downloader has options for both qc and reuters as vendors..... i simply switched between vendors and selected the appropriate folders.... 1 downloader, 1 metastock data folder, 1 version meta and 2 data vendors..... it was painless downloadin.... if using the cd hurts, 'well then don't do that'......
there are several areas where 9 and 9.1 seem at odds.... like as not there are solutions..... another sore spot was the exporting of formulas from 9.1 to 9.... have ya tried that..... even though formulas will clearly be there, 9.0 can't see 9.1.... after exporting just rename the 9.1 to 9.0......
if your attempting to import the entire contents of version 9.1 formulas, first make a copy of your 'ms90form'.... right click copy and paste it somewhere safe.... now go ahead and export out of 9.1.... change the name and import back into 9.......
most any issue between 9 and 9.1 has a solution......h
