Hi
I'm new to Datalink and I think i finally got the Downloader set up properly and I am downloading data. However, when I look carefully at the data, I notice the volumes are off by a factor of x 100 on some dates. For example, for symbol NT.TO, it looks like the volumes are correct up to Feb 17, 2006, but after that they are off by a factor of x 100. I am downloading mostly stocks from the TSX (.TO) and I noticed that others are also afflicted with the same errors.
Can someone please confirm that they also are seeiing this and its not just my set up ... I am using The Downloader provided by Reuters when I signed up for the service (version 8.01).
Thanks
Dave

hey dave.... its not bad, just different.... some data suppliers report volume in hundreds as newspapers often do.... when we move between suppliers its common to notice the volume difference begining the day of the move.... doc or pyradius might have a better suggestion, but i usually just delete all the existing data and download everything as new.....
depending on your connect speed it doesn't take that long....h

Thanks so much for the enlightenment! That makes sense since that would be just around the time I switched to Datalink. Funny thing though, on all my securities I set the first date back to 1990 so I thought Downloader/Datalink would "correct" my data to match with Datalink data. Is there some way to force this to happen? Otherwise I will have to delete all my data - 135 directories + - could be very time consuming.
Thanks again for your considerate post!
Dave

hey dave.... patrick, doc or pyradius might know how to adjust the volume.... might be more time consuming than starting over.... only takes a few seconds to delete the data but doing it 135 times would take a while.... data suppliers that i've experienced only build on past data and do not check for discrepancies....
i've seen mentions to auto correcting data..... true auto correcting data on our end almost seems impossible.... at least for the average guy....
for several reasons redownloading entire folders from scratch is common place for me.... so i've become accustomed to it.....h

In the downloader, click on tools adjust data.
Set this window to divide the volume by 100 between a specific date range ... Etc ...

Thanks you good Blokes!
After giving it some thought I know I really should delete all me data and start over, at least I will know I am starting off with good data. I just wish Downloader had some magical over-write all button!

Hello
New to the postings and Reuters Data service.
I am using Metastock 7.03 & Downloader 8.01, EOD data service provided by Reuters Datalink thru Equis site. I started fresh with no data and pulled data Saturday evening for 50 stocks or so, so corrupt data or other data service conflicts would not be applicable.
I am having the same problem of volume being 100x off on all stocks. I noticed many postings regarding this problem, I have spent several hours trying to find a way to correct it in both Meta and Downldr, can't resolve with y-axis change and there isn't an option in the tools for changing the volume factor. I did just deleted all the data as a test in one folder of 10 or 12 stocks and then re-downloaded the data, no change still off 100x. IE...PD Phelps Dodge Friday volume was 5,988,000 , yet the downloaded data says 59,880 , this is across the board with all downloaded stocks and the dates that I've checked.
A solution....some advisement, would be most appreciated.
Thanks
