of all the facets of metastock it’s the smart chart feature that has the most appeal to me...... but even the most appealing has a point of diminishing returns, so some day the need to weed might come about..... any one that has every taken a [censored] to the garden knows the pain of weeding too fast..... search twice delete once ..... or else be prepared to plant again.... we all use meta differently, for the majority of users just diving into deleting should be okay...... if you use meta intensely it might pay to wade in slow, else risk a lot of work going down the drain..... try searching the ‘metastock data’ folder for “.mws” and limit the file size to about 8k..... some of those charts might contain experts but most often they are equis supplied..... with metastock running , double click on a few to check and delete if your sure...... next search again this time set the file size to at least 30 k...... those high k charts will most often contain graphics such as the ones applied plotting system tests on charts..... delete if your sure..... the vast majority of what’s left will be the standard charts we use everyday...... the folders will be provided so some quick guesses can be made as to what can be deleted with little harm...... the size, 8k, 10k, 21k and such, has to do primarily with the smart chart instructions not the length of the chart.... most of my cry if ya loose smart charts are stored outside of metastock data folder due to lack of access to the program itself..... once outside, we are not limited to the programs restraints...... it’s a shame people before us have abused the read write version of meta to the point of no return..... it would have been interesting to have tinkered with..... until it’s removed from the extinct species list we must use other means to improve it.... smart charts appear to be one of the most misunderstood and least utilized aspects of meta.... for example by using smart charts , we can have 1 folder with 1 security yet thousands of clearly described smart charts..... or the nasdaq 100 with millions, there is no limit..... so what’s the value in that..... 1 click and 1 click only access to any chart with any expert and/or indicator combinations..... 1 click and 1 click only..... open more than 1 at a time?, no problem..... in seconds we can open every chart with every indicator and expert of henrys..... not in layout form, i mean in standard chart form...... and that’s just the tip of the smart chart iceberg..... more on this later..... h g just reminded me of something, the "more on this later" link will not work on your machines only mine.... there are 2 reasons for that, first if you look at the source codes on each individual iframe you can see the targets... you need those on your computers...... i'll explain indepth later...... and second we would need the each of the authors approval to present their codes in that manner.... it's not meant to be another way of presenting codes, it's my way of getting around limited access to the metastock's inner workings.....h
