Can anyone advise how I can sort my EOD data into a folder for particular securities to run my explorer search on. I only trade the top 300 stocks on the Australian Stock Exchange and so only need to run explorer on the securities which are in this group. I have tried manually copying or moving the securities from their alphabetical folder into a folder labelled ASX300 but Metastock won't allow this.

hey b2f.... my experience is with 9 and 9.1 so if your using some other version this might not apply.... you should be able to create your folder from scratch and place in it all the securities you need.... at any point in time later in about 4 clicks you should be able to add more or subtract others....
here are some thoughts along that line.....holler back if ya don't follow....h

Try these freeware utilities from MetaStockTools.com:
AsxGroup v5.1
"Freeware utility helps organize ASX stocks into their respective 24 GICS group and ASX group folders. Data updated nightly."
USGicsGroup
"Freeware utility helps organize 9,000 US stocks into their respective 24 GICS Industry Group folders."
Warning:
1) You will need to be proficient with basic PC functions such as copying files from one folder to another.
2) Most automatic data updaters (including The Downloader) will only update the first instance of any duplicate data file found, and ignore subsequent copies of the same data in other folders.
To get around the above difficulties, take a look at the URSC toolkit's function for making custom (non-volatile) favourite folders.
