Hi, I’m one week into my ownership of MS EOD 9.1. It is a terrific program… not to mention complex. I’ve been making reasonably good progress, but I have a question on which I would appreciate some help. I am trying to use a workflow where I identify a system (using an Enhanced System Test) that works well with a given stock and then attach the Expert for that system to the Smart Chart for that stock. I could then consult the chart daily to see if the Expert is signaling a recommendation. I tested this approach, but am having trouble making it work. The Enhanced System Test and the Expert do not seem to agree on signals. They’re not even close. To keep things simple, I am experimenting with this approach using one of the pre-defined MS Systems and Experts. Specifically, I used the same system (Equis Bollinger – Bands), stock (ISIL), and timing (2/3/2003 through 1/24/2006), but got significantly different buy and sell signals. EST conducted 27 trades, while the Expert only suggested 12. I expected to see the positions that had been recommended by the Expert to be the same as those that the system test chose to take. Why are they different? This leaves me with the feeling that I cannot successfully test a system and then expect the Expert to properly generate trading signals. The attached document provides a bit more detail and some links to the EST results. Thanks for your help. Don

Are your LOAD options (when opening the SmartChart), the same as what is used in the System Tester? They should both be the same, either "periods", or date range. --Johnathan

Be aware there are two system tests, "Equis - Bollinger Bands" and "Equis - Bollinger Bands (Expert System)" both with very different formulas. However, the "Expert System" version should match the formulas in the expert advisor.

Thanks for your comments. Johnathan, I checked and the periods were the same. I think that Pyradius uncovered the problem. I used "Equis Bollinger - Bands," not "Equis Bollinger - Bands - Expert." I will run the comparison again with the Expert version this time. Thanks again for your help! Don
