Hi I'm pretty new to metstock and I am trying to create a series of layouts of charts so I can quickly visually scan a number of stock charts. Now since I am putting so many charts on a page, they are all shrunken up, so I have to zoom in to get a clear view of the recent price action. The problem is that when I save the layouts, it doesn't save the zoom, so I'm having to keep rezooming on each chart each time I open a new layout. Except my FIRST layout, that's what's weird. The first layout saves the zoom, but no layout after does. Can Anyone explain this to me, how to get the layouts to save the fact that the charts are magnified? Thanks

I have a few questions How many charts are in each layout? What are you zooming on in the chart? Are you trying to display less data? You can also adjsut the X Axis properties or open the chart with right amount of data and the save it in the layout. Doc

Within the X-Axis Properties of a Layout, there is a check box option called "Retain Scale". This option is hard-coded with Layouts, meaning if you adjust the loaded/display values on a layout (Through the X-Axis Properties) it will actually break the layout. It also means that when you close/reopen the Layout, it goes back to its original load/display settings. The best thing to do is get the appropriate Zoom level before you turn the charts into a layout. You can edit layouts after you've created them, but in my opinion this is more hassle than it's worth, unless you have some extremely complex layouts. Still, if you want the instructions to do so, here you go! -Open the Layout -Click on the chart you want to change, then click Window>New Window (This will create a duplicate of the chart) -Double click on the X-Axis of this new chart and Uncheck Retain Scale -Close and Save the chart somewhere -Adjust your load/display options through File>Open>Options>Load Options -Reopen the chart you just saved -Click File>Edit Layout -Remove the original chart from the layout and add the new chart into the layout and click Ok
