I think the major problem in technical analysis is to find a way that indicates when the trend starts. If we find this, even a simple moving average is enough to make money from the markets. I have tried many way but the results was not satisfied Maybe the experts of the metastock have some useful idea #-o Happy new year to everybody =D>

I have found it very helpful to follow sentiment indicators as well as support and resistance levels on a chart to get a sense of trend exhaustion and potential change. Try following the put/call index, the volatility index, short interest ratio, and new high/new low list along with an overbot/oversold indicator like RSI or Stoch and see if it turns around support and resistance on a chart. That should improve your feel for turning points. Good luck

pan[censored], The problem with trend is in what timeframe? Once you have staisfied that I think you will find its a lot easier. Check the Guppy MMA learning tape that was recently posted by Patrick. It will help you better understand trend. Also, I posted an indicator called TSI which is short for Trend Strength Index not True Strength Indicator...would have named it something different but I'm only the person who wrote the Metastock version and didn't come up with the original idea. Bottomline is that it is an excellent compliment to Guppy's MMA. Hope this helps, Preston

You can use a variety of indicators from Moving averages to adx, try the Chaos balance line from proffitunity. They are the alligator by Bill Williams Chaos Balance Lines ChaosBlueBL:= {Alligator Blue Balance Line - Jaw} {13 bar smoothed average offset 8 bars} Ref(Wilders(MP(),13),-8); ChaosRedBL:= {Alligator Red Balance Line - Teeth} {8 bar smoothed average offset 5 bars} Ref(Wilders(MP(),8),-5); ChaosGreenBL:= {Alligator Green Balance Line - Lip} {5 bar smoothed average offset 3 bars} Ref(Wilders(MP(),5),-3); ChaosBlueBL; ChaosGreenBL; ChaosRedBL;
