I have sent a message to suggestions@equis.com asking for the folowing additions to the language:
{--- My Message ---}
I am using MS for a year now with external functions from other add-on's like PowerPivots Plus and BollingerBands.
Lately I bought the ADSI package from "The DML" and all the books published by Dr. John Ehlers.
To use the ADSI functions in order to build a trading system, additional buy/sell signal filtering is required, in general.
Also there are multiple options listed in Dr. Ehlers books to implement derivations of his indicators.
To do that, I stumbled very often upon the inability of the MS formula language to implement loops, or nested loops.
I believe that some the most important features for a formula language to provide are:
1) Loop/Nested Loop support
2) Ability to initialize/reference indexed arrays (especially within loops)
3) Ability to generate and save simulation stimulus data files using the above features (for testing the adaptive functions and not only).
4) Support for System Automated Trading
5) The PREV function is very taxing on the PC performance in simulations
All the above features are supported by TradeStation "Easy Formula Language" and by the eSignal platform as well.
MetaStock faces quite a serious handicap right now when compared with the above products.
I was told that Equis has no plans to become a broker and thus has no reason to implement automated trading features in MetaStock.
Instead, at least some easy to use interface to an external DLL for the major brokers trading platforms could be considered.
I hope the decision makers will place the proper priority to implement these features or your customers market share will be reduced substantially in the near future.

Equis Response:

Thanks for your suggestions.
The items you request are all in process for future implementation.
Equis will provide an execution engine to interface with brokerages.
{--- End Equis Response ---}
Now I am quite confused when looking to your comment.
Does it mean Equis is looking to implement ONLY some automated trading support and not the other Language required features?
Please disclose as much as you can about the MFSL future features, if loops and indexed arrays are going to be supported or not.
My plans to stay with MS as a TA platform will depend on it.
Thank you for your support.
